Susan E. Pacheco M.D. M.S., FAAP, FAAAAI, is Professor of Pediatrics, specialized in Allergy and Immunology at The University of Texas McGovern Medical School in the Texas Medical Center in Houston. She earned her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico Medical School in San Juan, and completed her pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology and Clinical Laboratory Immunology fellowship, both at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Pacheco’s area of expertise is in climate change and how children are impacted by the climate crisis. She conducts research about the impact of climate change in human health and was member of the American Academy of Pediatrics )(AAP)Executive committee of the Council on Environmental Health. Dr. Pacheco co-authored the AAP’s 2015 policy statement about climate change and children’s health. She volunteers with the AAP’s climate initiatives and lectures about the effect of climate change on human health to groups of diverse backgrounds around the country and abroad. Dr. Pacheco is a child advocate and served as expert witness in the constitutional climate lawsuit, “Julianna v. the US”, and more recently in the statement of the Earth Guardians and Our Children’s Trust in the matter of changes to the rules and regulations of the Oil and Gas Conservation Commission of the state of Colorado.
