Rev. Shultz-Thomas is the Senior Pastor of First Plymouth Church, United Church of Christ in Denver, CO. She is a member of NGLI sponsored by UCC Pension Boards; a transformational leadership program focused on revitalizing and reimagining the prophetic role of the church in the community. Rev. Shultz-Thomas is a public theologian working at the intersection of faith and politics and passionate about building coalitions for social change in her community. As a former resident of North Carolina, she was a co-founder of the Environmental Justice Network of the Southern Conference, UCC. She served as a volunteer and board member for numerous organizations, including Raleigh’s new Industrial Areas Foundation branch, North Carolinians for a Fair Economy, Faith in Solar, NC Council of Churches Sanctuary Coalition, North Carolina Faith Leaders for Public Education, and more. Jenny is an active member of Together Colorado’s clergy caucus for climate justice and the Interfaith Alliance of Metro Denver. She is currently pursuing doctoral work in Prophetic Proclamation and Interpretation at Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Rev. Shultz-Thomas currently lives in Centennial, CO, with her wife, Shannon, their two children, Sage and Quinn, and their whoodle puppy, Oliver.
