I am in my eighth year as 5th Diocesan Bishop in the Episcopal Diocese San Joaquin. Prior to my arrival in EDSJ, I was Diocesan Bishop in the Diocese of Waiapu in the Anglican Church in Aotearoa/New Zealand and Polynesia. In New Zealand, I served as Diocesan Bishop, Cathedral Dean and Parish Priest. Since arriving in the Episcopal Church in 2014, I have Co-Chaired the Legislative Committee on Environmental Stewardship and Creation Care at our General Convention in Austin, TX in 2018. And at the previous General Convention in Salt Lake City, UT, 2015, which was my first GC, I served on the same legislative committee. Since the last GC, I have served as Vice Chair of the Task Force on Creation Care. The task force has the responsibility of ensuring that we, the Episcopal Church, is living into the legislation regarding creation care from our previous GC.
During my eight years as Diocesan Bishop of EDSJ, we have formed a Commission on Creation Care and developed local animators/advocates in our Faith Communities thereby ensuring that issues of Creation Care remain central to our work locally and as a diocese. Additionally, we have launched a Diocesan Wide Solar Project. At present, we are halfway through those installations.
I believe an intentional embrace of creation care is fundamental to our baptismal faith and who we are called to be as church.
I am married to Tracy and we have two adult children, Ian and Zoe.
